Left Behind

Writing Prompt #6

There used to be seven of us. Now, I'm alone, wandering in the garden. Surrounded by the lush greenery, I couldn't help but wonder where have the others gone? The seven of us have been here since the beginning of days.

The six were always out on assignments while I hold down the fort. They would always return with crazy epic stories of how they've accomplish their missions or in some case, failed.

One day, the six had an epiphany. They are planning for a great escape. Me being me, wouldn't rise to the challenge, decided to stay behind. Being alone is really dull, no one to entertain my humour. Didn't think I would last long solo.

I am Sloth but now I gotta move. Gotta reunite with the six.

Book Worm

Writing Prompt #5

"You always have your head crammed in a book. Can't you just obsess over your social media status and text nonstop like the rest of us?"

"And be one of those self-absorbing, narcissistic and materialistic millennials? No, thank you. My social life needs no updating, much less broadcasted to the world only to have strangers to judge the way you look and what you do. Social life means talking to each other with words, not text and emojis. My social life is more than 4:5 ratio photo on Instagram. My story worth more than a minute on Instagram.

Books however, are just like music. You feel yourself transported into another realm led by well thought-out words which string into sentences and paragraphs. Shakespeare's works did not become literary jewel just to be impeded by a 280-word limit tweets. And who wouldn't like the feel and smell of a paperback brushing your fingers. It's a timeless feeling.

So yeah, I'd rather have my head crammed in a book instead of a smartphone. A smartphone isn't going to make me any smarter that other book couldn't. Besides, I have 339 book titles mentioned in Gilmore Girls to catch up on."

Girl of Steel

Writing Prompt #4

It is unlikely that the Girl of Steel, the girl who is invulnerable to bullets, to be vulnerable by something so trivial as love. Yet I was. I knew he was special from the moment I laid my eyes on him. I tried to deny it but Cupid's arrow doesn't miss.

His piercing blue eyes locked on mine, one hand interlocked with mine while the other one pressed gently on my cheeks. I can feel his heartbeat through his chest, and I thought to myself "maybe for once I should be selfish, I should be happy"; and then our lips met.

And just like that, the man I'd been kissing moments ago become the world's most dangerous person in the world. I felt myself complete until I gave my heart to someone else. Now he is my kryptonite.

Nine Lives

Writing Prompt #3

"This is what, the third time I've crashed my own funeral?"

"Fifth."

"Really? That many?"

"Uh huh... The first three were car accidents. Then starvation. And you know what happened to the last one."

"Right. Looks like I'm down to four, including this one."

"No shit."

"Hey, do you think I'd live long enough to see robots take over the world?"

"That is if you'll learn how to cross the road."

"I'm not a headless chicken."

"No, you're not. You're a feline with nine lives but wasted three of them on the road."

"On the bride side, self-driving cars are the future."

"It doesn't make any difference for us. That's why I stick to the sidewalks."

"You mean tagging along the pedestrians, having them to lead the way?"

"It's called being street smart, my dear."

"Oh, so tell me again why you have one life left?"

"Umm..."

Lost and Found

Writing Prompt #2

There's an island where all lost things end up. Today, you wake up, cold and wet, on the beach of that island.

I don't have the slightest clue how did I end up here. Hell, I'm still in my pajamas. The universe sure has a wicked sense of humour. Could have at least put me with proper footwear.

Traversing through the deserted beach is challenging, especially with Lego pieces scattered around the sand. It's like stepping into a Lego minefield. Strangely, I never recalled having owned this many Legos. Anyway, I have got to find a way out of this island, but first, I gotta find shoes. After cussing through a box worth of these brick pieces. I managed to find my old red sneakers. I remember losing it to some shoeaholic thief. What gives?

I have to say, being on this island is certainly trippy but also brought up a lot of nostalgic memories. Stumbling upon the most random things from my childhood including those cartoon-printed erasers I used during primary school. Those square rubbers are really pesky! They would just magically disappear whenever you dropped it in class.

Oh hey, I met few versions of myself. Self-Esteemed Me seems like a nice person to be around with. Jesus, Motivated Me was so hopelessly optimistic I feel like punching myself in the face. Thank goodness I'm still a virgin. Because god knows what would Virgin Me say or whether I would see the light of the day again. Glad to have dodged that bullet.

The whole time being here, I thought to myself why Steve didn't appear. I'm pretty sure I lost that love so why isn't he here? Then it hit me. Maybe I didn't lose Steve in the first place.

Now I would REALLY like to get off this island.
